The school Josh goes to(and Samantha will go there now too come August!), The Classical Academy, was out for the summer before the local school districts this year due to snow days and such. So, we went during the week and pretty much had the place to ourselves.
You walk up to it and the first thing that strikes you is the music. They play Christmas music year round! There is a HUGE banner on the front of the building about when they first opened....that would be in 1955!!! You wait in line to purchase your tickets and they hand you a paper card that you have to take to the food vendors if you'd like to buy anything. That's the crazy part...there is NO money transactions inside the park. The employees write down what you ordered on your card and then as you leave the park you hand them your paper and buy it all at the end. It really is so nice and gives the kids just a little bit of freedom if they choose.

We took the longer way up and drove by Garden of the Gods... beautiful. Everything is SO GREEN this year...it is just wonderful to see. We have had twice as much moisture this year as we had at this time last summer...wonderful, wonderful, wonderful news for a community who is still recovering from the two worst fires in Colorado history...
Pike's Peak is nicely framed back there...

The whole place is geared towards their ages pretty much. They do have a couple of rides that they did not and could not go on, but they did everything else...more than I thought they would. We started out easy...
And then went straight to the crazy, spinny, thought I was going to fall out, throw up, or throw my back out ride....I can NOT believe we all did this. It went forwards and backwards...way, way, way, way too fast!!
I took this picture of the backside of the Waldo Canyon Burn scar...this was the first fire two summers ago...where it is brown..there should be trees and greenery...
After the too spinny thing we went and sat on the chair lift type ride...

We were able to catch the 15 minute mage show as well...always fun.
This was a super, duper, turny slide ride...
It really was a the perfect temperature....not too hot, not too cold, and not windy!

They both really loved this ride...it had guns on the front and went up and down and around as they were trying to get each other...
