Dad, Husband, and/or Doctor?!?!

So, the last two weeks since Nana and Papa left....we have been battling the September/Being around other kids for the first time cold and illness junk with Josh. I'm just dealing with allergies since it's harvesting time! Anyways, Josh has never had a high fever(thankfully) until last week when it was 103 two nights in a row. He was hot to touch, inconsolable, and wouldn't even settle down in his favorite thing...the bathtub!!! I was exhausted since I guess kids' fevers like to spike in the middle of the night...so, we were up from 11pm to 5am several nights in a row.

There's one thing during all of this that we hadn't encountered before....When it is 3 in the morning and Josh is screaming, crying, and burning up....I tend to not think straight, ask Eric atleast 10 questions all at the same time and want all 10 responses back just as quickly with reassurance. The catch is...Eric answers them back just as quickly, with confidence, but answers one as a doctor when I want a husband or another one as a father when I want a doctor's answer!!! Pretty much, my expectations were completely scewed and our communication was at a loss because I expected him to read my mind and know what 'hat' to put on and answer each one of my questions differently!! It was a lose/lose/lose situation for all of us and poor Josh just felt so sick and we felt completely helpless. Then we remembered something that gets Josh's attention without fail!!! That something is an entertaining foursome from Australia called The Wiggles!!! So, it is 4 in the morning, we're all sitting in front of the tv(Gidget too), watching these guys sing and dance and Josh immediately calms down. It wasn't really funny then, well, it kinda was...as I look back I'm pretty sure Eric was sitting there the whole time, calm, reassuring, and really not wanting to say the wrong thing, but knowing everything was fine!!

Anyways, everything is fine(Eric was right, as usual)...Josh still has a little cold, but what kid doesn't right now!!

So, thankfully he was a little better by last weekend when his Grandma and Grandpa came for a visit!! I was so scared he'd sleep the whole weekend, but after a week of feeling blah, he was ready to play. We had a good time and here are some pictures!!! Josh's Grandpa brought him an awesome jersey that he will have for years to come!!! :) HA

The Last Month...

Well, we've finally settled into a routine(sorta)! I think Josh and I have figured out how to handle Eric being gone and on call so much(as much as you can)! :) Josh started 'school' one day a week at the church we go to here. It's an awesome program and we are both enjoying that day!! :) I'm also doing CBS every Thursday as well as one of the MOPS groups in the area. So, we stay pretty busy, but we also have alot of time just hanging out the two of us too!!! The exciting news is Josh has started to walk. He picked it up one day and then hasn't stopped!!! My parents also came for a visit...or, I should say, Nana and Papa. It's always fun to have them here and we had a great time!!!

Where has the last month gone?!?!

I sat down this afternoon to post some pictures and realized it has been a whole month since I last posted! That's crazy, and all I can say is...Eric officially started his intern year about 3 weeks ago with an inpatient service so....he's gone alot! I believe his schedule is 30 hours on call then two normal 12 hour days and then another 30 hour shift and that's been repeating since he started! So, pretty much, when I have some time to myself from Josh...I sleep, watch Scrubs, sleep, watch some sports, and then maybe take a nap! :) It's definitely been exhausting for both of us, but I really believe we both like a challenge and it's only made us stronger together!! Anyways...since I last posted....some excited things have happened! This past week Josh and I flew down to Dallas to visit my sister Sarah and her family! I have flown by myself with Josh before...actually, several times, but he was always a little smaller and I could hold him in my lap. Well, this time...I knew I couldn't do that and so I bought him a seat as well....which meant I was going to have to bring his forward facing car seat along with me!! Going through the airport with a car seat on your back(in a bag for it), pushing a stroller with Josh and my carry on bag, and then pulling our suitcase....now, that really is an entertaining adventure!! But, it really wasn't too bad and random strangers offered to help, especially through security, and so now I'm ready to go wherever!! :) We had a great time and Josh really liked playing and watching his cousins play! Then, when we got back on Friday...he started really walking!!! He walked atleast 10 feet straight(and I'm glad he waited till we got home so Eric could see it too)! :) So, everything is good around here...except, if you know anyone moving to Toledo, Ohio and they need a very nice townhome to live in...let us know! :) We're getting excited for the fall....Josh is going to Creation Corner(a mother's day out program at our church) one day a week, college football is starting, it's getting cooler at night, I'm starting CBS soon, and there will be a new drive through Starbucks 10 minutes away(we don't have any free standing retail Starbucks here yet), and between now and October we have 3 trips planned...back to Texas, Virginia(wedding), and back to Texas(another wedding) again!! :) http://picasaweb.google.com/laurapittman/Dallas807?authkey=5C21ZnpkdOc for some reason the link isn't working..so, just copy and paste it to your browser or hit the Title of the post up top!
