Well, there's been so much going on around here since the last post...including my internet being spotty....however, the cable company came today and the problem is now solved! That's the good news....well, I guess there's no real bad news....it's just been quite exhausting around here the last month! It started out good and I suppose it'll end good....but the stuff in between was, I guess you could call it.....educational....and, on SO many levels!! :)
First off....Lee, Bill, and Bryan (eric's parents and brother) came out for a visit! Eric and I were looking forward to a fun filled weekend! With plans to take Josh swimming, all of us going to a Cardinals game, going to play some golf, etc.......Well, none of that really happened because Josh was sick, for reals, for the first time that same weekend! I suppose if there is anyone to blame, it all started with myself! (isn't that nice) :) I started feeling a little sick while we were still in Colorado and then when we got home...I had a really bad cold/flu sympoms.....this is what I shared with Joshua!! Except, for him, it moved into his lungs and on one Saturday he started wheezing really badly. I heard that noise and somewhere, in some far off memory of mine, I either heard my dad or sister or maybe even myself wheezing and I got the chills....I immediately wanted to take him to an urgent care center or someplace(remember, it's a saturday) but, then....this is the kicker....I remembered that we are recently knew to Tricare(military insurance) and things operate....let's just say, differently than what I'm used to! We must first get a referral to be able to be seen at an urgent care, however, with his wheezing we were told to go on to the ER!
That's always a good thing to hear....So, at this point....Eric's family is still all here, we really haven't done anything, and now Eric and I have to leave them at our house and go take Josh to the ER.....I must say, that I was quite impressed with the Memorial Hospital ER. They have a peds ER that is part of Carinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis...I think we waited 5 minutes and saw a doctor within 10! Needlesss to say...only 2 hours later and after a couple of breathing treatments and one x-ray....oh, and now Josh completely fights you or whoever looks like a nurse/doctor....we were on our way home!
So, that was the first week in there...which, you know, looking back and putting everything into perspective everything was just fine.....But, I guess I feel hazed or that I went through another rite of passage as a parent....which is...how you feel, what you do, how you act, etc...when your child is truly sick! It made me appreciate my new quote I posted!!
These pictures were taken when everyone was leaving and then the other two are of Josh and Gidget with their new lookout window!! :)
