Just a morning at the zoo...

um, I just saw that this post never published...it is from last June/July...anyways...enjoy
One day a couple of weeks ago, Lindsay and I decided to meet at the Denver Zoo. The weather had been really nice and it sounded like fun...especially since I had never been there?!?! How crazy is that?? I remember going to City Park for State Finals or some other tennis tournament during high school but never made it to the zoo. Needless to say it rained on us the entire drive up to Denver that morning! I wasn't sure if we were going to do it. Our back up plan was the Children's Museum. Needless to say....after we parked our cars in the lot and Lindsay and I talked to each other while sitting in our cars with our windows down(not wanting to get wet) it was obvious that the two older siblings...Josh and McKenna were not going to be pleased unless they saw some animals!
So...that's what we did! It was great! We got there pretty much when it opened. It had poured right before then and so hardly anyone was there. The couple of families I did notice in the parking lot had out of state plates...I'm guessing they were GOING to see some animals too!
The kids really did have a good time. It was a nice experience for me too...to see the Denver Zoo finally!
What was most entertaining...was that they weren't that interested in the animals....Josh just wanted to go in a certain direction(sound familiar?), so we let him go....then you had McKenna and Sam who, I believe, between the two of them....ran through, jumped in, sought out every water puddle on the ground. At one point...there was a muddy puddle that got the best of Sam....
oh yeah...this was Sam's first time at a zoo...well, that she could remember...she has been to the St. Louis one and Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in the Springs...anyways....she actually knows the animals now is my point!

 Here are the giraffes...

This was her expression when she saw her favorite animal...

 a hippo.... ;0)

So...this was the after math of the muddy puddle....I put her in the stroller after she fell and then she fell asleep... see those pants?? Luckily I was with a prepared mom(lindsay) who had extra pants and socks...
We were wet and chilly...(yes, this was in june) so we went to Starbucks!
McKenna seemed to always have one eye on josh....

Josh just danced around while singing...
and all of a sudden...he was on the floor. Lindsay said he looks like he's 'planking'...I had no idea what she was talking about. Now I do...look it up...it's funny.
