What did you say????

Yes, this is another post about Josh...but, he has another first to share....Part of our new routine before bed is that the kids take a bath at the same time...now, as I'm writing this, I guess I know what pushed Josh to make such a bold move...his sister!HA
What happened...as you can see from the pictures...is Josh informed me that he did not want to take a bath, but wanted to get in the shower! Huh?!? This child who has an EXTREME meltdown/anxiety attack when water hits his face or he is 'accidentally' under water or we attempt to wash his hair....it's another sensory issue. The first part being the actual sensation of water on his face, but more importantly...the not being able to decipher where he is in 'space.' The feeling of uncertainty, out of control, and the sensation of falling through 'space' without knowing how to stop yourself or knowing where you are....yes, this is what happens in his brain when he simply goes under water...so, maybe you can imagine my shock when he not only gets in the shower, but proceeds to get his hair wet, have the water splash onto his face, and well...have a GREAT time....He even entertained his sister, who, does not like baths at all.
Oh...yeah, when Josh was a baby and even when he was Sam's age...he would fall asleep in the bath. The type of bath cushion I had for him in the water would surround him(but no water would get on his face) in such a way that he'd feel completely compressed and have full body awareness and he'd be able to calm down( I did not know the sensory perspective at the time)...but, it was a BIG version of compressions we do for him every night to help him relax. The joint compressions helps the central nervous system to calm down...which helps him(and me)..chill out!! So, anyways, we are working on Sam liking the baths and to SIT DOWN!! :-)
Just to help you understand what Josh is singing...the end of "If you're happy and you know it!" and Sam is saying and signing for 'more!'

What a great way to start my morning! After taking Josh swimming several times, we can attest to the fact that he does not like to get his face wet..this is big! He'll love the pool even more. Bet Sam will be singing in the shower before you know it!
