Hurrican Ike??!?!?!
Ok...so, it wasn't quite a hurricane anymore, but I guess you could call it a tropical depression! Either way...it was an experience! It started to rain here about 4am on Sunday. I know it was that early because that was when Eric was getting home from his shift! :) He said it started drizzling as he was pulling into our neighborhood. Then, I was woken up about 6am from the wind. The storm came through earlier and quicker than what they first thought...so, I'm glad we were up to see it!! Actually, Eric was sleeping through it all...I laughed to myself thinking that he would probably sleep through all of this since he did sleep through a tornado in high school! (yes, I'm not kidding, it went right over their house, but that's another story)....Continuing on...Josh went to the window when the wind started to really howl and then he could have cared less. Gidget, on the other hand, wouldn't leave my side and kept pacing around the house.
So, what does a weather channel junkie do next as a big storm is coming through???? I grab my camera of course!!!! I took a couple of pictures, but the video shows it better. The first two videos are facing our backyard and catch when the wind really picks up. The last two are out our front window. We were at about 50mph winds...we had no damage, just some flooding in our backyard..not that big of a deal. However...in Cincinnati where Eric's parents live, they had horrible winds, up to 70mph and their power was out from Sunday until last night(Tuesday)! So, we were fortunate!! I still can't believe what an impact Ike had from Cuba up to Illinois!?!?! Crazy!!
(turn your volume up and you can hear some of the wind)

I imagine that Ike was similar to what it might be like to go through a car wash without a car...
